Resonance FM Radio Show

Live performance and an interview with Scott McMillian on his Resonance FM show, Glass Shrimp. Unfortunately there's quite a bit of distortion - it seems the engineer was more concerned with our dropping cake crumbs on the studio floor than with the desk levels.

...the cake was a nice touch though.

Laura Hits the Sticks

I will be leaving London on the 10th of May for 6 months to return to where I grew up in the remote reaches of Bannow, south County Wexford, Ireland. Here I will live and collaborate with Irish composer, Judith Ring. Judith and I lived together in Berlin in 2002 for several months; back then we sang a lot, played a lot, went to a lot of gigs and had a lot of fun. This time round we're planning to have something more tangible than good memories to show for our time together; what exactly that will be is as of yet undecided - possibly the second Clang Sayne album - who knows... but we're sure it will be good. Watch this space!

Warehouse gig at Manor House

Mexican percussionist, Dario Villagas Bernal returns to London in May for his European tour with Ramón Del Buey. A good friend and collaborator of our guitarist, James O Sullivan, I first met Dario several years ago when he joined us for a Clang Sayne gig at The Gladstone. It remains in my mind as one of our most memorable performances.

Some photos of the gig can be found here.

He will also do a set with another old Clang Sayne collaborator, Guillaume Viltard (double bass), as well as Phillip Sommerville (piano), Lawrence Williams ( saxophone) and Ramon du Buey (bass clarinet). See here for details.

Biddles Bros presents

The last time Clang Sayne played in Biddles Bros it was the Rugby championship, and somebodies' birthday party, and a crackhead wandered in off the street and tried to sell us an electric guitar half way through a song. We're hoping it will be a more subdued affair this time round...! Still, it remains one of my favourite London haunts. We'll do two sets, kicking off around 10pm. Go here for details.

Kick Music presents

We'll play at Jamboree Bar this Thursday along with Kaneng Lolang and Duke Garwood

If you haven't been to Jamboree Bar before I highly recommend it - it's set in the secluded courtyard of Thames House - an old Victorian licorice factory; seemingly the bar used to be a cantine. During the sixties the factory was squatted by artists, and has since become a managed artist studio space. The bar has been very beautifully decorated; warm atmosphere good sound, comfortable layout and reasonably priced drinks - the kind of place that makes you grateful for venue managers with a vision! Go here for details.

Winterlands is finished!

We've been busy for the past few months, playing every Sunday at the Royal Naval College in Greenwich and now I'm pleased to say Winterlands is finally in the bag! The album was recorded live without edits, outtakes or overdubs by the trusty engineer, Olly Keen. It was be mixed at my home in Bodney Rd, London by my dear friend and flatmate, Conor J Curran, and mastered by a truely talented mastering engineer, Graham Semark at his mastering studio, Cyclone Music in Kent. Cover art was designed by Italian artist, Riccardo Arena. Now we're just waiting to get the cds back in the post...! The whole process has been a wonderful experience from start to finish, not least because of the help and support from all those involved: James, Pete, Matt, Olly, Conor, Graham, Riccardo, family and friends.

Thank you!
