Live Radio Session on Resonance FM, Hello Goodbye

Another live set on Resonance; this time it's on Dexter Bentley's 'Hello Goodbye' program; James and I played this show back in 2007 - one of our first ever 'gigs' together.

Looking forward to returning with full band in tow.

Upcoming: Wednesday 16th June, 2010

Clang Sayne at Cafe Oto with CJ Boyd and Kaneng Lolang

A return to the lovely Cafe Oto!

We're planning a live visual accompaniment for this show using the beautiful images of Riccardo Arena that are dotted all over this website- hopefully it will be the first of many visual oriented Clang Sayne projects/collaborations. Also playing on the night will be CJ Boyd; an American bassist/singer who has spent the past two years travelling on his 'Forever' tour, and Nigerian-Bulgarian bassist/singer, Kaneng Lolang

Upcoming: Monday 10th May 2010

Laura Hits the Sticks

I will be leaving London on the 10th of May for 6 months to return to where I grew up in the remote reaches of Bannow, south County Wexford, Ireland. Here I will live and collaborate with Irish composer, Judith Ring. Judith and I lived together in Berlin in 2002 for several months; back then we sang a lot, played a lot, went to a lot of gigs and had a lot of fun. This time round we're planning to have something more tangible than good memories to show for our time together; what exactly that will be is as of yet undecided - possibly the second Clang Sayne album - who knows... but we're sure it will be good. Watch this space!

Saturday 1st May 2010

Warehouse gig at Manor House

Mexican percussionist, Dario Villagas Bernal returns to London in May for his European tour with Ramón Del Buey. A good friend and collaborator of our guitarist, James O Sullivan, I first met Dario several years ago when he joined us for a Clang Sayne gig at The Gladstone. It remains in my mind as one of our most memorable performances.

Some photos of the gig can be found here.

He will also do a set with another old Clang Sayne collaborator, Guillaume Viltard (double bass), as well as Phillip Sommerville (piano), Lawrence Williams ( saxophone) and Ramon du Buey (bass clarinet). See here for details.

Upcoming: Thursday 29th of April, 2010

Luna Fringe gig

Winterlands Reviews

Since the relaunch of Winterlands we've been picking up some more nice reviews, not least this one from Scott McMillian - read it here, a great write up from Boomkat, who are now stocking the album, and another from Organ Art.

Thursday 18th March 2010

Clang Sayne at Biddles Bros

The last time Clang Sayne played in Biddles Bros it was the Rugby championship, and somebodies' birthday party, and a crackhead wandered in off the street and tried to sell us an electric guitar half way through a song. We're hoping it will be a more subdued affair this time round...! Still, it remains one of my favourite London haunts. We'll do two sets, kicking off around 10pm. Go here for details.

Kick Presents

We'll play at Jamboree Bar this Thursday along with Kaneng Lolang and Duke Garwood

If you haven't been to Jamboree Bar before I highly recommend it - it's set in the secluded courtyard of Thames House - an old Victorian licorice factory; seemingly the bar used to be a cantine. During the sixties the factory was squatted by artists, and has since become a managed artist studio space. The bar has been very beautifully decorated; warm atmosphere good sound, comfortable layout and reasonably priced drinks - the kind of place that makes you grateful for venue managers with a vision! Go here for details.

Radio Plays

Fiona Talkington from BBC's Late Junction has been giving us some good airplay, as has Irish Times critic, Jim Carroll on his 'On The Record' program.

Paul May joins Clang Sayne

We're very sad to say goodbye to our former drummer, Matt Fisher! He will still make the odd appearance at CS shows. Paul May (Carolyn Hume, Duke Garwood) has taken his place. We played our first show with him last night at the Fleapit - great stuff!

Thursday 17th September, 2009

Clang Sayne in USA

I will spend the next ten weeks between New York and Kansas, gigging a little and relaxing a lot, having finally finished Winterlands! Some nice gigs booked in - top of the list will be opening for legendary NYC drummer, Kenny Wollesen at Zebulon - yehoo! Can't wait! Also, later in November I'll open for the launch of the new Danny Pound Group album at the Tap Room in Lawerence Kansas. See gigs page for details...

Winterlands is finished!

We've been busy for the past few months, playing every Sunday at the Royal Naval College in Greenwich and now I'm pleased to say Winterlands is finally in the bag! The album was recorded live without edits, outtakes or overdubs by the trusty engineer, Olly Keen. It was be mixed at my home in Bodney Rd, London by my dear friend and flatmate, Conor J Curran, and mastered by a truely talented mastering engineer, Graham Semark at his mastering studio, Cyclone Music in Kent. Cover art was designed by Italian artist, Riccardo Arena. Now we're just waiting to get the cds back in the post...! The whole process has been a wonderful experience from start to finish, not least because of the help and support from all those involved: James, Pete, Matt, Olly, Conor, Graham, Riccardo, family and friends.

Thank you!
